Short description

Determination of the device

IIT-RTS is used for the visual evaluation of image intensifier tubes with regard to resolution and image quality (e.g. light spots, dead pixels, interference in fiber bundles, etc.)

Basic structure

The basic structure enables observation of the fluorescent screen of image intensifier tubes by means of a microscope, while either a test chart or a full-area illumination is displayed on their entry surface (photocathode).

The device has 2 separate beam paths for this purpose. A beam path can be equipped with test charts. The other beam path is used to illuminate the entire surface of the entry surface of the tube.

Depending on the Feature to be tested, the tube can be placed in the beam path with a test chart or in the beam path without a test chart.

The microscope enables visual inspection of the fluorescent screen image with different magnifications at any point.

For example, by using a line grid, the resolution of the tube can be evaluated at every point and at different angles. The testchart can be rotated from 0° to 90°.

Homogeneity, dead pixels, light spots and other features to be assessed visually can be examined by means of the full-surface lighting.
